AV Niche (Recording Systems) Limited, established in 1995, offer digital evidential recording solutions to Police forces, Government agencies and the corporate sector.

Members of APPSS (Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers) now ADS (Aerospace Defence Security Industries), AV Niche provide complete system solutions for the audio and audio / visual digital recording of interviews with suspected persons, child witnesses, vulnerable victims and intimidated witnesses. Real time digital recording of custody suite charge desks, custody suite cell passageways / corridors, identification parades and CCTV security are also provided.

AV Niche meet all relevant PACE (Police and Criminal Evidence Act), Home Office, ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) guidelines and recommendations to comply with the stringent requirements of the UK Criminal Justice System. Products have been designed to be "Network" ready and "NPIA ISIS" program friendly.

- UK Patent "Secure Digital Recording"

AV Niche supports the digital revolution with the changes that are occurring in the migration from analogue to digital recording technology within the Criminal Justice System. AV Niche pioneered the digital recording of interviews onto removable digital media.

In 2004 AV Niche were granted a UK Patent, GB2387956, for "Secure Digital Recording".

"Secure Digital Recording" relates to the digital recording process only being allowed to commence when certain criteria and conditions have been met. These include confirmation that the video and audio signals to be recorded are detected as being present, the correct number and type of recording media to be recorded are detected as being present together with confirmation that all the recording media are blank and free from any previous recording.

Additional patents have been granted in Australia, South Africa and New Zealand with applications pending in Europe, USA, Canada, India and others.

- Digital Network "NPIA ISIS" friendly

AV Niche can provide a fully integrated digital evidential recording network solution to the Criminal Justice Sector which is "NPIA ISIS" friendly. An implemented network can be located within any single building, a local area, a region or even nationally. A fully integrated digital evidential recording network is able to support and provide audio and audio / visual recording back up for interview rooms, charge desks, custody suites, identification parades, evidential content input with the additional provision of "on line" monitored officer training, video on demand together with a complete administration audit of the Criminal Justice process. Within the network are workflow management solutions enabling Simple Speedy Summary Justice. A secure and controlled access to the network can also be offered to other Government Agencies such as the Crown Prosecution and Court Services thus providing the desired "end to end" digital evidential recording network. The "NPIA ISIS" friendly network will support the entire Criminal Justice System in both the present and future whilst addressing key objectives identified in the Bichard enquiry and the more recently published 2008 Sir Ronnie Flanagan Review on Policing.

The controlled and steady growth of both the company and employees has enabled, in recent years, the development of various partnerships. AV Niche was awarded a Proof of Concept Project by East of England Development Agency (EEDA) in 2007. The Project findings were made available to the Interview Recording National Group.

AV Niche primarily provide digital evidential recording equipment and solutions to Police Forces and Government Agencies. With the increase in awareness of human rights hospitals, banks and other private sector companies have adopted the use of AV Niche equipment and expertise in order to provide solutions for specific corporate customer needs and requirements.
